Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 3, 2026  ·  Applies to FamilyBoard

FamilyBoard (“FamilyBoard,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by Family Board App, helps families turn chores into a fun, rewarding routine. We take the privacy of families — and especially children — seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights parents and guardians have.

Built around parents. FamilyBoard is designed so that a parent or legal guardian creates and controls the account. Parents set up each child’s profile; children never provide us with an email address or any contact information, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. See “Children’s Privacy (COPPA)” below.

1. Who we are

FamilyBoard is a web application that lets parents create chore “quests,” award points, set savings goals and rewards, and track streaks for their children. The data controller responsible for your information is Family Board App. You can reach us any time at family.board.app.contact@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

Information a parent provides about themselves

Information a parent provides about a child

When a parent adds a child to the family, the parent enters and controls the following. The child does not submit this to us directly:

We do not collect a child’s email address, phone number, precise location, photos of the child (beyond an optional avatar the parent chooses to upload), or any persistent identifier used to track the child across other services or for advertising.

Activity within the app

3. How we use information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use children’s information for behavioral advertising or share it with advertisers.

4. Children’s privacy (COPPA)

FamilyBoard is intended to be set up and managed by a parent or legal guardian. We comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and its 2025 amendments. Because a parent creates the child’s profile and provides any information about the child directly, that parent provides consent for the limited information described above at the time they add the child.

What this means in practice:

Parental rights. As the parent or guardian, at any time you may:

If you believe a child has provided us personal information without the involvement of a parent or guardian, please contact us at family.board.app.contact@gmail.com and we will promptly delete it.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your or your child’s personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run FamilyBoard, and only as needed to provide the service. Current providers (sub-processors) include:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public, or in connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition), subject to this policy.

6. Cookies & tracking

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies, and we do not track children across websites or services.

7. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service and for the purposes described in this policy. Family and child data is retained while your account is active. When you delete a child profile, or close your account, we delete or de-identify the associated personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, tax, or security obligations.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords and PINs, access controls, and tenant isolation so each family’s data is kept separate. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work continually to protect your family’s information.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these directly in the app, or contact us at family.board.app.contact@gmail.com and we will respond as required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

10. GDPR (EU/UK) notice

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, Family Board App is the controller of your personal data. Our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract (to provide the service), your consent (which you may withdraw), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the service), and compliance with legal obligations.

Where a service is directed at or used by children, we rely on the consent and authority of the holder of parental responsibility. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact family.board.app.contact@gmail.com.

11. U.S. state privacy rights

Residents of California and certain other U.S. states may have additional rights, including the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, and we do not process the personal information of known children for those purposes. To exercise your rights, contact family.board.app.contact@gmail.com.

12. International data transfers

We and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify parents. Your continued use of FamilyBoard after an update means you accept the revised policy.
